Children with down syndrome are born with things called “markers'' that make them different from the rest of us. Though they are different, it makes them no less beautiful. Liam, my 11 year old little brother, was born with downs and has been one of the biggest gifts of my life and my family’s. After seeing a beautiful shoot done by another photographer, my mom and I wanted to showcase Liam in the same way she did. Each photo represents a “marker” of downs and made to be highlighted as a beauty that coincides with it. Some of these markers include:
smaller-than-normal or absent nasal bone 
small bright point on the heart (intracardiac hyperechogenic focus)
abnormality of the aortic arch (aberrant right subclavian artery, or ARSA)
widely separated first and second toes 
increased thickness of the nuchal fold 
shorter-than-usual neck 
all of which are shown below.
